About IMI

Dr. Ihsanullah Khan Medical Institute (“IMI”) commenced its administrative and academic operations in 2017 and has come a long way in a short span of five years of its operations. By the Grace of Almighty ALLAH, the Compassionate and the Most Merciful, the Institute has grown tremendously in the facilities it offers and can now boast being the best-equipped and state-of-the-art institute in the region.
Being a health education institution, we are committed to producing high-quality graduates, medical technologists, and scientists in their respective disciplines to work, acquire skills, and enhance their capabilities to live in a rapidly changing global environment. With a dynamic and stimulating educational environment, our tradition is to accept challenges and to receive wisdom today in order to achieve new things and new approaches for tomorrow.
At present, IMI caters to a very large population not only from various parts of District Charsadda but also provides quality education to the nearby districts such as Mardan, Swat, Dir, Chitral, and Mohmand Agency. In keeping with our slogan, we are continuously striving to set new standards in health education, which the people of this region have not experienced before.
Presently, the institute offers the following five BS-level programs and seven diploma-level programs in affiliation with the Khyber Medical University, a highly ranked university by the HEC, and Faculty of Paramedical & Allied Health Sciences (FPAHS), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar

Mission

The Dr Ihsanullah Khan Medical Institute (IMI) is dedicated to educational excellence that embodies the values of caring, integrity, compassion and confidence and acts as an advocate to patients, integrates the latest evidence-based practices and has a drive to excel in clinical practices and leadership in the healthcare profession.

It strives to establish a centre of excellence in the health sciences and technologies which would play a role as an agent for change and a role model for other institutes to emulate. The mission of the IMI is to efficiently produce professionals who would render their services according to the national and internal needs.

To establish a State of the Art Health Institution at Umerzai which shall be a cradle of modern knowledge, skills and grooming of youth to prepare them for constructive and exemplary leadership roles.

To cover up the existing deficiency of paramedics with quality trained human resource who shall be able to play an effective and positive role in prevention, curative and rehabilitation in community at national and international level

To produce graduates who can meet the challenges in health care during peace and war from community to tertiary care.
Shall contribute to the society through innovation in research and excellence in education and make them icons of their respective fields.

To produce the best quality paramedics graduates through high quality training according to the latest international guidelines.

History

Professor, Major Dr. Muhammad Ihsanullah Khan
M.A, L.L.B (Aligarh University, Uttar Pradesh), Ph.D. Phil (Bonn University, Bonn, Germany); Fellow of the Alexander Von-Humboldt’s Research Institute (Berlin), P.E.S (I).
He was born in 1906 to a noble family of landlords in the town of Umerzai in the Charsadda District of the then North West Frontier Province of undivided India. His father, Al Hajj Hafiz Khan Ubaidullah Khan, was a well-reputed and prominent figure in his community. He retired from the Imperial Police in Bombay as a senior superintendent in 1938 and was then appointed as commandant to raise the Pioneer Force Battalion in Peshawar.
In 1913/14, Dr. Ihsanullah Khan enrolled in Islamia Collegiate as one of the pioneering students, which was established in 1913. He completed his matriculation in 1924 from Islamia Collegiate, and by 1928, he graduated from Islamia College. In 1930, he completed his degree of Master of Arts in Philosophy from Aligarh University, and by 1932, he had also graduated from Aligarh University with a Bachelor of Law and Letters (L.L.B.). In 1933, he applied to Bonn University, Germany, for higher education. Following his admission, Dr. Ihsanullah Khan took a Diploma in German language after which he did his research for 6 years and achieved a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Bonn University in 1938. Subsequently, he moved back to his home country.
Upon his arrival, he was one of the very few Ph.D. holders and was promptly approached by Islamia College in 1939 for his expertise in the subject of philosophy, where, with his efforts, a department of philosophy was established. Dr. Ihsanullah Khan was appointed as their pioneer professor, where he served for almost a decade educating the Pashtoon community. While holding the rank of professor at Islamia College, he was requested to join the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, in 1948, immediately after the partition of the subcontinent, to head the Social Sciences Department, where he was awarded the rank of major as well. He served in P.M.A. for almost 5 years, after which his services were requested again by the Government of Pakistan to accept the role of the first principal of Government College, Abbottabad. Later on, Dr. Khan was appointed as principal of Government Degree College, Kohat, where he spent his last years of service as a staunch professor in spreading education in the then N.W.F.P. and now K.P.K.
He was an eminent Muslim scholar and educationist, especially on the subjects of Islamic teachings, realism, and communism. Dr. Ihsanullah Khan contributed a lot to research in philosophy and has 18 publications in reputed journals of his time, such as the famous ‘The Islamic Review’ journal/magazine in their October issue of 1951, with the title of his publication being ‘Private Property, Morality, and Communism,’ and another in the June issue of 1960 by the title of ‘Communism and Islam Contrasted,’ to name a few of his many other publications. He was a formidable bibliographer of learned articles, & any student of Islamic apologetics or of East-West intellectual relations would do well to consider his work.

Experienced & Qualified Teaching Staff

Our staff is experienced and qualified, and includes lecturers holding Masters’& MS/M.Phil qualifications in their respective fields from internationally recognized institutions. Bringing their experience to classes, lecturers and teachers implement a practical approach to theoretical bases. As a result, our students undergo a learning process which from the outset prepares them for the challenges that they may face in the world of work.

Building

The IMI occupies a spacious building of over four kanals. The building inhabits 3 floors covering a total of 20,000 sq ft area. The classrooms are equipped with projectors. High tech computer labs enable students to access the internet at high speed, helping their study and research time.
